The New NSX Will Be the Most Configurable Acura Ever

Acura faithful, we promised we would let you know when we had more information on the all-new NSX, and after a highly celebrated Monterey Car Week, we’re ready to make good on our promise.

The NSX appeared in new colors at the Quail, a high-end “motorsports gathering.” The Valencia Red we have come to know since the car debuted in January was present alongside two others – one dressed in Nouvelle Blue Pearl, the other in Berlina Black. These are just three of the eight colors that Acura will offer when the car launches. The other options are listed as Rivazza Red, Copse Green Metallic, matte white, pearl white, and silver.

Each of the three display cars at the Quail also sported a different interior option. Reports indicate four options, including saddle (a dark tan), orchid (resembles khaki), red, and all black, with the non-black interiors allowing for black seat inserts.

Acura wants choice and customization to be a theme with the NSX. In fact, they want the NSX to be the most configurable car available from the brand. In that light, options extend to the wheels. The Y-spoke wheel is standard, and there’s an available Interwoven wheel with two different finishes to choose from. Brake caliper color is customizable, too.

When building their NSX, customers will also be able to toggle options for the ELS Studio Audio and Technology package – including a nine-speaker audio system, AcuraLink and navigation, XM satellite radio, and parking sensors – and a Carbon Exterior package that augments the car with a front spoiler, side sills, diffuser, and exhaust finisher.

The NSX is confirmed for a spring launch next year, and Acura is currently deliberating about whether to offer a special launch edition, which would have a number of models built and ready to go, or to allow entirely for custom orders. The latter option makes for a more gradual launch, but it maintains the spirit of configuration that Acura has listed as a goal.

At Leith Acura, we’re curious to hear what you think. Would you like to see more NSXs on the street sooner, or is the ability to tailor-make your own supercar more important?
